~ KEYS TO HEALING ~

~ If you have a {Dr.} in front of your name, magazine subscriptions are sent to your office, though you neither order, nor pay for them. Pouring through the Health articles, reveals some interesting research.

~ Students at Princeton, Stanford, and Harvard, were analyzing hormone levels in their blood; before and after different musical notes were played. They concluded that each Note stimulates function of a specific organ, When I compared those findings, with my Ayurvedic charts for healing with tone; nothing matched. Science was not supporting Scripture: not good.. That meant I did not understand something. The more I researched this conundrum, the farther apart Western Science & Asian Tradition seemed; regarding which Note stimulates which part of the body.

~ As a musician, my daily meditations started with hours of piano work, playing specific healing rhythms; in both Ayurvedic & Scientific Keynotes. Going up the scale, I noticed each raga was the musical 5th of the one before. That meant a resonant link existed between Eastern & Western Tonal Therapeutics.

~ A resonance link is best understood, through the phenomena of Tuning Forks. Most musicians know a vibrating "C" tuning fork, cause other "C" forks to vibrate. Only the most inquisitive know, Forks tuned 5 & 7 notes down scale from the vibrating Fork, also vibrate, but less. Apparently; as 2 objects approach the same resonance (Tone), the distance between them in Space-Time is diminished. This attraction Force of Resonance, pulls the other C Tuning fork’s prongs closer, causing vibration.

~ Could this spontaneous Phenom, be at work in the human body? As a Naturopath, I knew the endocrine glands were beginning to reveal their hormonal role in organ function. As a Dr. of Electronic Medicine (D.E.M.); I know my client’s electrical conductivity increased, whenever I followed certain patterns of electrical stimulation. Mapping this pattern, digitally displayed for each client on my Acuscope (multi-organ EKG analyzer) allows me to translate it musically.

~ EPIPHANY TIME; I recognized a pattern, which substantiated the Tonal truth in both schools of thought. Ayurveda teaches the heart is stimulated with the "F" scale; while Science proves heart hormone levels respond to the "C" scale. Knowing Thymus secretions influence (resonate) Heart rhythmus, which stimulate Thyroid secretions (G), which increase Lung function (D), the pattern - F, C, G, D, up the scale. Continuing this patters throughout the body, showed; Ayurveda Charts refer to notes that stimulate the Endocrine glands, & Western hormonal analysis is based on Organ response to Tones.

~ Place their Tonal data side by side, & the Musical Pattern of 5ths & 7ths is apparent ~

~ Ascending notes for men, are the resonant 5th, of the one before ~

~ C ~ G ~ D ~ A ~ E ~ B ~ etc ~

~ Women ascend to open their heart, but only if what they see is acceptable ~
~ Ascending by the resonant 7th, of the note before ~

~ B ~ E ~ A ~ D ~ G ~ C ~ etc ~

~ Gland stimulates Organ, which stimulates Gland, etc. Melody with a dominate 5th note down the scale from the keynote, increases Bio-Response. Melody with a dominate 7th note down the scale from the keynote, eases Bio Response. The way I composed Maximus Music, follows these Bio Principles, for Maximum response.

~ As I focused on pattern recognition in the body; another pattern was emerging on the piano keys. Early research showed Melodic Patterns stimulated growth in plants & animals. The math of melody is best illustrated on the piano. Play piano with a song in the keynote of "F#", or "D#m"; any of the black keys can be struck, and you will never produce a bad (unmelodic) note. Irving Berlin used this (Black Keys) pattern, to facilitate his performance. Using differently tuned pianos; Irving could play melody in different Keynotes, striking only the Black keys. My sister’s old church organ was not tunable (transposable), so I first found the Black Key pattern, in this manner.

~ Turn on the radio; strike the Black keys that sound good with the song you hear, do not strike White keys on either side of those Black keys..

~ There are 5 Black Piano Keys in every Octave ~
~ a set of 2 ~ & a set of 3 ~ separated by 2 white keys ~

~ Usually; if the Black key on the right of the 2 is melodic; the Black key on the right of the 3 is also, and many times, the middle Black key of the 3 will also sound good.

~ Just remember, only White keys not touching the melodic Black keys can be played harmoniously. Same association if melodic black keys are on the Left. With this simple "Pattern Recognition" technique, I could play along with any song on the radio.

~ To my delightful surprise, most music accommodates this melodic pattern; weather Rock, Rap, Country, Jazz, or Classical . Still; hours of practice are needed to gain finger control. For two years, my daily need for Bio enhancing secretions, was satisfied by translating my guitar Ragas into piano compositions. Playing with any song on the radio, revealed the exhilaration, Jazz Great Charlie Parker spoke of, when he discovered this melodic pattern on his Saxophone. The fountain of endless improvisation opened for Charlie, as it now opened for me. Like Dizzy Gelespie's trumpet, my piano could accommodate, and alter the mood of any song Live.

~ Once again the adds for multi-tasking computer Keyboards caught my eye. Thanks to the support of therapy clients at my office; the $2000. Yamaha DRS-1000 Transposable Keyboard, became the new addition, to my ranch studio. The Rockers at SA's Hermes Music store, assured me, "this Yamaha Keyboard can do it all". All I have to do is master it’s instruction manual, written in the style I currently aspire to. Clear, to the point, no frills or opinion, & lots of Charts. If my years of Scriptural investigation have taught me anything; it is the difference between a Mystic, and a Preacher. Preachers want to thrill you with their insight; the Mystic phrases a manual for you to thrill yourself. If I could enable you to instantly master Charlie Parker’s epiphany, & Dizzy Gelespie’s improvisational ability; you could thrill yourself. If every child could play melodically along with music, developing dendrite connections, enhancing coordination, rhythm, and improvisation, simply by distinguishing white from black keys; what a Maximus Manual this would be.

~ Today, the (transposable) Piano keyboard, is available to all. What Mozart, Bach, Beethoven, Irving, etc would have given; to have a Transposable Piano. The equivalent of 12, separately tuned Pianos on stage. Now, with the touch of a button, I can shift the melodic pattern of any song, to the black keys on my Transposable Board. This was Crazy. I could play along with the radio, any recordings, and Local Bands, simply by finding the black key pattern (5 in every Octave), then transpose the melodic pattern to my Black keys. Any chord (combination of Black keys), should be melodic with that song.

~ The chart bellow shows the Transposition Assignments for Major & Minor Songs, in all Keys ~
~ this shifts each Keynote’s Basic Melodic Pattern to the Black Keys ~

~ Remember: the Black Key Pattern exists on nontransposable pianos, for songs in F#, & D#m ~

~ If this technique makes it possible for anyone to play Keyboards, with their favorite tunes, simply by striking their black keys, then my Spiritual Father was right. This is a Maximus manual.

~ If you become proficient in hearing by using the above technique, and would like more ways to stimulate your brain’s Left & Right lobe development; here is my transposition chart for playing only White keys with songs in Major modalities.

~ MUSIC: no matter how you play, triggers physical changes in the brain’s wiring. Christo Pantev of the University of Muenster’s Institute of Experimental Audiology in Germany; found each musician that intensely practiced an instrument, had enlarged the dendrite mass for high brain functions in the cerebral cortex. Zatorre recorded the brain’s "emotional processing centers" increasing activity; whenever Music is heard. Increasing blood flow to the neurons can counter; apathy, aggressiveness, rage, and poor concentration; which usually accompanies a decrease in mental ability. So if anyone puts you down for "just playing the black keys"; remember you are increasing your dendrite mass like Einstein did, and they are NOT.
