~ CYBERBOY ~
~ In cyberspace we find the best collection of knowledge; accessible to anyone, at anytime. Illuminating musical similarities in all branches of science; requires access to multiple categories of research, available only through the internet. One click in front of another, one page at a time is the only way to sail those cyber seas.. Each information site has thousands of links to other related sites. Your determination must be strong, for every useful web page there are 10 with nothing new to say, and 10 that dont relate at all. The best tool is a good search engine, like www.ask.com, and choose your "search words" carefully. If your search is not successful, try different "search words" for your "search engine".
~ In search of the Maximus - Audience; windows 95 made the World our Stage. In 1970 , I graduated from S.A. Community College, 1st in my class of basic Computer Languages. In 1995 , we had chimpanzees operating computers. In late 1995, I was ready to release my new vocal album "Cyberboy". Mapping the emotional, and technical journey we were all about to take.
~ December, 95 on stage at Coffee House Cybar & Art Expo Hall, "Maximus" presents "Cyberboy". Steve Pluck (real name) S.A.s Nubian prince of guitar, Ep - congas, Barbara & Mell - bass keyboards, Candilaria - bk. vocals, and for the 1st time on stage Crystal Penn (real name) - focusing it all through the crystal lens, into the recorders for cycast in Cyberspace. Crystals ability to focus on the upbeat moments in our shows, keeps traffic flowing through the videos at MaximusBand.com. I stream this 1st live performance by musicians using my Pattern Recognition Techniques, through the Win-Cast-Video-Board in my new $1,800 computer, to the interactive video Cybars around the world.
~ During the next 2 years, for 2 hrs, 6 nights a week, I entered the Worlds Cybars. Through "CU-SeeMe" software, the response to "The 1st Cybar Band", enlightened this Video Jockey (VJ) immeasurably. Taking it all in through 6 windows, each connected to a fellow cyber surfer, watching Maximus in one of their 6 windows, displayed on their computer monitor. Instantly typing, and receiving messages, from those viewers online.
~ The number of Hits (visitors) at our Web Site, began to grow. This first Maximus web page only cost $2,000. It explained the science behind each of my instrumental CDs; and for just $800 more, programmer Dave could greatly improve our traffic (people viewing our Web Page). The Maximus Audience began to grow. Then Dave was awarded the Contract to build the interactive learning site, for the international Montessori educational system; and our traffic began to drop off.
~ It was clear, I needed to take control; but the computer language "HTML", for designing web pages, was not taught at SA Community College in 1970. To digitize my music & videos for streaming (broadcast through the internet), HTML computer language was never required. To master this new language, I would need my nights free to study, and stop rehearsing for Saturday. Negative; was the groups reaction, yet no musician offered to learn HTML, so their Saturday Night Country Club parties could continue.
~ Then the bands scribe "Crystal", offered to learn HTML. She easily learned to operate my PC, then began her year long mastery of HTML web page design. With the tenacity of someone familiar with overcoming disappointments, she learned by day. At night I streamed the latest Saturday Night video; learning which scenes evoked which responses in Cyberspace. Years of hands on analysis of my musics effects; enabled me to gain incredible insight, for holding the attention of those 6 screens.
~ Through costumes, prop building, and staging, the ranch crew built a sense of team work. Though Mells day job, excluded his physical help; his monetary contributions for upgrades, helped produce an aura of positive solidarity for the videos. No one distributed these efforts, (available for viewing 24 hrs every day), to those "Hiring" Club Bands. But in cyberspace, requests for Therapy Music Information, increased. No paying gigs, for Rock & Roll; but interest in the musical explanation of scientific discoveries, increased greatly.
~ One suggestion I made was to see about a "Foundations" show with the San Antonio Symphony. If they could develop interest; I would need to provide the Orchestra with sheet music for the Elemental and Seasonal songs. Todays music software can translate each note played into musical script (sheet music).
~ I assigned each instruments peramiters to be printed on a separate bar of the sheet music as I played. By the time I finished, not only "Foundations", but "Keys to Healing", & "Travel Guide", were transcribed to sheet music for each Orchestra section. My goal is to work with the Conductor in choosing which section should follow the sheet music for which instrument. For instance, cellos could follow the bass guitar line, & horns could follow the second keyboard line I programmed into Roland for each song.
~ Surfing the web, brought up graphic charts, like the stereo graphic, my computer displays of each stereo recording. For years I balanced my secretions, by transcribing my analog recordings, into the digital format. Recording, then seeing each songs computer graphic; developed my visual recognition of Musical wave forms. When my monitor displayed graphic charts, of subatomic research; I knew another branch {Octave} of science was ready for Sonification.
