Dr. Mark L. Johnsen ND. DEM. ~ known as DOC by most ~ is a brilliant Musician, Composer, & Producer. His musical career began early in life, fist finding success in college playing guitar & singing lead with his band 'The Beefeaters'.

Finding college life unsatisfactory, Doc struck out alone, expanding his search for musical enlightenment from Texas to California, where he began his studies into the Essene & Esoteric Philosophies of life & music ~ including Ancient Asian Modal Tunings & Ragas, Hatha & Kundalini Yogas, Naturopathy & Organic Gardening, Polarity Therapy, & Electronic Medicine.

With a brain full of new ideas, he adjourned with his wife to the beautiful foothills of the Mt. Shasta's, where they spent 7 years building a life raising their daughter Dera, & working part time as physical therapists/health coaches. There, in the isolation of vast wilderness, Doc would spend long hours in meditation, growing the dendrites necessary to process grand influxes of understanding ~ And it was there, that he first began to experiment with the Ancient Asian Modal Tunings & Ragas for himself.

Life was good if rustic, but change was ahead. As children grow older, they need to socialize with more than the local wildlife; & so the family returned to Texas, where they made a home of a large family ranch outside of San Antonio. Closer now to civilization, his career could take on new dimensions, he began seeing more clients, & recording music in his now sparse spare time. Alas, all good things must come to an end ~ Doc found himself alone on the ranch ~ but what seems like a curse is often a blessing, & indeed it was. His family taken care of elsewhere, his time was now liberated for musical expression any time of the day or night.

Wishing to do more than simply entertain, he used the principles of modal tunings to explore the correlation between science & music. After years of research & experimentation, his clients subtle reactions leading the way; the theory of TonetiX was born ~ & in 1986 MAXIMUS was formed & dedicated to the translation of the latest scientific data into an audible, musical experience ~ soliciting the MAX in Bio-Response possibilities.

Today Doc finds himself married to his partner in crime ~ MAXIMUS WebSlave & Camera Girl Crystal Penn-Johnsen ~ his many musical talents include: Composing LIVE Music; Vocals; Guitar; Keyboard; Flute; Harmonica; Banjo; & Digital Horn.
