~ AN EFFECTIVE SOLUTION ~
~ FOR DISARMING LAND MINES ~

Land mines are one of one of the more devastating weapons left from past wars; incredibly difficult to locate & disarm, this type of pollution continues with more than two thousand people needlessly maimed or killed each month by exploding land mines.

Well Carl Fliermans' scientists at Savannah Tech. Cnt. in South Carolina are working to change all that. In this scheme for detecting land mines, a plane would spray luminescent bacteria on mine-infected regions. The glowing bacteria would cluster around the mines to feed on the TNT gas they emit. A person equipped with night vision goggles could then locate the mines by looking for the highest concentrations of glowing bacteria.
